Well, figure I should blog about how SGU went, its been almost 3 weeks since the first episode now and I’m pretty happy with it. I’m no tv show expert so I don’t care about the little mishaps some people may complain about.
Stargate Universe is certainly good to watch, and so far the story is drawing me in, but that could be my infatuation with Stargate talking. Ep 4 is tomorrow night, which I can’t watch until Saturday on Hulu.(too broke for satellite or cable)
Parts 1 and 2 aired the first night with part 3 being next times episode. I’m too lazy to give a summary of the so far episodes. So if your interested you’ll just have to watch them yourself to find out. =P
Also if your a fan of SG-1 or Atlantis, while SGU is certainly different being a bit darker and grittier than those shows. It still has its Stargate roots and therefore I totally recommend watching the show. Even if you haven’t seen any prior Stargates before. They are doing good at explaining some of the tech that you’d already understand if you had.

have to totally disagree with you – SGU has no semblance whatsoever to SG1 or SG Atlantis. I have to wonder what inspired the writers to ruin such a great franchise.
After the last episode, I am finding it harder and harder to waste another hour of my life with this. On the other hand, I appreciate the reruns or DVR or SG Atlantis that much more.

I guess I can understand where your coming from. Basically, from what I’ve read SGU was meant to be different from the start. But I guess I shouldn’t have phrased that it has SG roots. To me, while they aren’t using the Stargate much, the show still at least has one. Although, they definitely use the stones much more.
Also I’m not falling head over hills for the show but I am enjoying it. The story they tell has its merits and I guess is trying to appeal to a different audience. Which so far not a lot of original SG fans like. But for me personally I’m not bothered by it.
I’ve learned from watching Atlantis that sometimes it takes more than just watching a few episodes(or in my case almost 2 seasons) before I learn to really appreciate a show. So I’m prob giving Stargate Universe a little bit more credit than it needs. But I want it to stick around, at least its better than absolutely having no new stargate shows on right now.
With all that said, I appreciate your comment and I full heartily agree that SG-1 and Atlantis were MUCH better shows.
