SGU Parts 1-3

stargate_universe_gate_roomWell, figure I should blog about how SGU went, its been almost 3 weeks since the first episode now and I’m pretty happy with it. I’m no tv show expert so I don’t care about the little mishaps some people may complain about.

Stargate Universe is certainly good to watch, and so far the story is drawing me in, but that could be my infatuation with Stargate talking. Ep 4 is tomorrow night, which I can’t watch until Saturday on Hulu.(too broke for satellite or cable)

Parts 1 and 2 aired the first night with part 3 being next times episode.  I’m too lazy to give a summary of the so far episodes.  So if your interested you’ll just have to watch them yourself to find out. =P

Also if your a fan of SG-1 or Atlantis, while SGU is certainly different being a bit darker and grittier than those shows.  It still has its Stargate roots and therefore I totally recommend watching the show.  Even if you haven’t seen any prior Stargates before.  They are doing good at explaining some of the tech that you’d already understand if you had.

Stargate Universe Go Go Go!

K, well SGU’s premiere is almost here. 3 more days to go. I haven’t been a big Stargate fan until this year. But this year I watched all 10 seasons of SG-1(which I got absolutely addicted to) and the 2 movies that came out in 2008.

Then, even though I thought in the past I didn’t like Stargate Atlantis. I decided to try and start watching that.  Have to admit, 1st season was a little shaky, but I kept watching.  By 3rd season, I fell in love with it almost as much as I was when watching SG-1.  Anyways, I watched all 5 seasons of this show, which sadly ended this year.

So I’m all ready to go, seen the trailers for it and it looks like it can be a great show. I don’t have cable/satellite so have to go to a friends to watch it. All which makes it more exciting since he also has a nice 42” plasma. So yup, figured its worth a blog even though I’m quite sure not a soul reads my blogs. :)

Qcon is done and long gone…

Until next year of course :>.   But yeah, it went by pretty quick.  As usual, didn’t get to play much games, but got to see tons of old friends.  It was a enjoyable qcon, felt more relaxing since I didn’t have to do the tourney.

Day one started out slow, didn’t do very much.  Took me a while to get the TM server running as I ran into problems.  Kevin was off in the vender area for the first few hours too.  While Marc and Jason didn’t even show until the evening. Played TM the most this day though, more so during the night.(didnt play the rest of the event :<)

Trackmania Nations Forever Review by dkill!!

The Good - Fun, Addicting, challenging, tons of content, FREE

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

The Bad – Hard, sometimes frustrating, some tracks are not for beginners

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

trackmania-nations-forever-1-256x256Well, first of all, to start off with, Trackmania Nations Forever(TMNF) is free. While most of us may think free is good, not always are free games well polished as ones you would buy. In TMNF, after downloading it, you’d think you paid for it since, just the menu alone has a pretty nice feeling/cool factor to it. But obviously, no one plays a game to go “oh pretty menu, I love it!!”. So with that said, I’ll talk about the actual gameplay and other important features.

This game has Single and Online modes, single player mode is called Solo, and there, you have 65 tracks to go through. Although, in order to play all 65 tracks, you have to unlock them by either getting Gold medals, or other requirements such as Ladder points which can be obtained while playing Online. There is a possibility of getting 4 medals each track, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and the more harder one, the Author medal. So this means a total of 260 medals can be officially obtained in Solo mode. The tracks do start out nice and easy, but as you keep going they become more challenging and some may even become frustrating. However, this is what can make the game addicting, as your always finding ways to improve your times, thus, allowing you to get more medals. (more…)
